Two essays compared/ contrasted

         In the essay Columbus and the Moon it is talking about how Christopher Columbus was on his voyage to America and, somehow it was the same day as the Government's project as it is known as NASA which is National Aeronautics and Space Administrations. They both had series of voyages. NASA landed men on six different parts of the moon while, Columbus made four voyages to different parts that was the east coast of Asia. They both gave their answers to the Government but, he asked for more information as In details that could benefit anyone back home. Although everything that was being discovered like the moon was like a gray rock in the early 1970s, and, Columbus returning from Barcelona Columbus still died, and the NASA still lives. 

   In the essay about Life in a Bundle of Letters the author shared how he had saved his letters as an his memories like, love letters or letters from school friends. He stated that receiving a letter is more intriguing than receiving a call because, in a letter you can sit and mull and say exactly what you mean. He also states that you can not wrap a life time of phone calls in a rubber band like you can with a letter as in wanting to remember that specific time on perhaps another decade If lucky enough.

        They achieved their goals by expressing how they felt on what they considered was right to do for them. I got some ideas that can help me on my essay and on the long run. 

High school teachers !

   The three types of teachers that I had in high school were helpful but not as much. To begin with I had a teacher who did not care if we was paying attention to her as she teached. She would always say “ I’m still getting paid at the end of the day and I got my degrees “ , she would teach but if most of the people were not paying attention she would stop and that affected me especially when it came to tests. My next teacher was a cool teacher he would always be willing to help us and stay after school with us. He was the type you can ask questions and he would clarify it without stating it in a mad way. He loves his job as teaching and anyone can tell because the willingness of him helping us. Last but not least I had a teacher who just graded what we would do didn't really have the interest to ask or bother to speak a lot. She would just tell us what was necessary and left it like that. In the end I only had me to rely on and I did what I had to do. 

Friends

     The three types of friends that I have are very special to me. To begin with I have a best friend, a friend that I consider as a sister, and I have a party friend. My best friend is everything to me she is the person that I go to or text when I just miss her or, have problems in my life and I need her help. My next friend is the one I consider family she is like someone that I can find peace with, she is the type of person that when I am with her we can not stop laughing. We could be anywhere and get in trouble for laughing. Last but not least my party friend, she is the girl that I call when I am invited to a party and need someone to go with me. She is the one that will take care of me regardless what I say as in “I am good don't worry” she will still take care of me even if I repeat it. I love them all though. 

Easier Or Harder !?

    I find this essay a little more difficult than the other one because this one is in 3rd person point of view. I will have a harder time because I have to definitely watch for words that are first person point of view, it will take me more time especially editing my essay because I do not want to have a first person point of view phrases. It is more interesting as to my curiosity of learning more on why people smoke. To many people my topic could be intriguing and for others it could be dumb because even if people view it it probably wouldn't make a difference. The other one was much more simple because it was about something that I believed in, not so difficult because I knew it I grew up with it. It was quicker for me to put my thoughts onto my essay and a little more coping to myself.

Citations on essays

You should cite your information all the time and use it adequate. If you do not cite your information it can stand out as if you were plagiarizing. This is a lot of trouble although it depends on what you are doing you have to give credit to the person who said it because it took the owner a while to come up with something good. You can cite the information in many ways whether an article on the web or from a book as well as a  youtube  video. It is just going to be cited in a specific way but yet all in MLA style form.

Help On MLA

I find MLA formatting easier now since we have been going over it in class and it is not so difficult anymore. I do still have trouble with MLA Works Cited page it confuses me between the author or the publisher and after I put it in citation machine it gets simple at the same time but it is not arranged as it is supposed to be so I have to fix it and try not to have any typos. If I do have a typo then everything messes up, so I prefer going over the citations in class a little more because I see how it is being done.

college struggles

    students have responsibilities but it is nothing new everyone has responsibilities. They have a life outside of college and perhaps jobs as well but at some point everyone struggles. The thing is they have a series of studying to do for however many classes they have but, plenty of the students get their homework, or classwork done in time for them to maintain a good grade in each of their classes. They get their main responsibilities out of the way and deal with their other situations once their work is done. It can get hard especially if they are working part time but, nothing is easy although everything is capable even if they have kids. Students have kids, and jobs, and still attend classes they do their exams and pass it with a good grade, their homework or projects could be hard but it gets done. Every struggle you go through will pay off in the end.

The Harms Of Social Media

Social Media can be very harmful especially if you are dealing face to face with strangers, this causes many kidnappings even deaths. It can all be very funny but it has certain limits, things may seem funny to you because it is not you in the situation for instance, a video of you getting leaked causing you public humiliation although, to people it can be very funny but hurtful to you. Strangers do not care if they hurt someone's feelings as long as they get clout or perhaps even money because of what they share, they can lure you into something you might not understand in that moment but of how compulsive they are they can win and ruin a part of your life.

Bestfriend

 
     A bestfriend should be there for you when you feel like you have the whole world against you. That person should give you advice when you need it the most even if it feels like they are against you, they are just trying to look out for you and want the best for you. Friends are hard to come along especially a bestfriend because in this generation people do the opposite of a friendship, they should be the person you can trust your secrets with and even trust your life with them. They can help you with things you are not so good with or help you just because you look like you need help and do not want to admit it as well as changing for the better.

Strange But kind

     It was a beautiful morning at the park just walking around and, listening to my mother talk on the phone with my aunt about grocery shopping. My mom then decided to go grocery shopping at publix at publix I would always wander around until I would end up at the school supplies aisle and that day I saw a beautiful pencil it was fuchsia so adorable in my eyes and I just wanted it so I got it and decided to go pay it without thinking if I had enough money in my pocket or nonetheless checking the price. Once I got to the register the cashier scanned it and said "four dollars and sixty- eight cents is your total" I looked at her and thought to myself but I only have three dollars and fifty cents, I realized that there was already someone behind me and I did not know where my mom was so I told the cashier that I was sorry and that I did not want it anymore, but the lady behind me asked the cashier how much was it and she told the cashier that it was not a problem and to charge it along with her groceries. I told the lady that she did not have to pay for it and she looked at me and said "sweetheart it is for school and, that I should be able to have a pretty pencil for school", I looked at her and thanked her for buying my pencil. That was the first time that I had seen kindness from a stranger and till now the only kind of kindness.

Peer Revision

      Peer revision would be more valuable to me if my partner would be very honest with me no sugar coating anything. I state that because I want my partner to let me know where I am wrong and tell me or give me examples of what I could do. I understand sometimes that it can be hard for someone to take in the information they are willing to give us because sometimes people get offensive about their paper and, I myself will not unless it sounds ridiculous for me to try to change my simple error if there is one. Last but not least I just want to have a good paper so most likely if someone points out a mistake I would appreciate it because it will benefit me in my grade.

Writing At It's Best

 
         I love to write, I feel that writing is so beautiful it is like something that is so majestic to do while you are sitting by the ocean watching the waves. Writing can turn into plenty of ideas such as poetry, novels, music, and etc, it all seems like it can be done very easily, but it is very challenging. People have their own struggle when it comes to writing for instance, someone like me I start to get frustrated with the third body paragraph on an essay for the beginning I feel confident but then I start to run out of ideas and, end up with nothing in mind. It freaks me out because I have so many ideas but when it comes to turning it in I get nervous and forget everything, but currently I am working on that by thinking and knowing that I did the best I could.

My Dear Belief

 
         Above all, the people in this world the only person that I know who acts accordingly to my belief is my mother she is my reminder everyday of this dear belief that is Forgiving But Not Forgetting. People through out their lives go through many situations and react so different for instance, they cause so much pain to someone who only wants the best for someone that they love furthermore,they end up saying words that later in life they regret and, end up begging for forgiveness. My mother always states that if they said it even if it was out of anger that they mean it, that whatever that person said is how they deeply feel. That gentlewoman has forgiving many people but has never forgotten,she keeps it as a reminder for herself and as a lesson for us in a way that it can  relate to us even if it is just a simply advice. In brief, as they say he or she who listens to advice is wise.

This I Believe 3 ( Inviting The World To Dinner, By Jim Haynes)

 
             To start this off it all begins in a salon in Paris that has been going on for thirty years, it is only hosted on Sundays. People come from all over the world and get to meet new persons as well as trying different meals. At this place the food is cooked by different persons and it is served as dinner, within saying this many friendships are made, as he states that a little six year old girl became friends with some one who was eight years old . He believes that anyone can tolerate anyone instead of understanding them but he also states that this can lead to even loving them in the end or at least accepting them for who they are. If this man could have his wish made he would introduce everyone in the world to each other, but at least he gets to introduce people from different nationalities in his salon.   

This I Believe 2 (Listening is powerful medicine ,By Alicia Conill)

 
      To begin with in This I Believe the woman was a doctor and she was attending her last patient of the day, she was in a rush so she quickly did what she needed to do then headed toward her patient to talk. Her patient was struggling to put on socks and asked her to help her, but she ignored her in that moment and went on talking about how she was doing with her health as well as telling her that she knew the that the patient was having company. As the doctor was speaking the patient interrupted her and told her a story that was one of the reasons that led to her health problems the doctor continued on to help her with her socks as well as asking if she needed something else and the patient replied No, but in that moment the doctor realized that listening is the key to bettering as well. Time passed by and she would always think about what she had learned from that patient as in truly listening and the importance of it. one day she got sick and was unable to keep being a doctor but she still taught med students and professionals but as a patient in a way where she would tell them how she believes that listening to her could heal her. 

This I Believe 1 (Finding Freedom In Forgiveness By Ronald Cotton, Jennifer Thompson- Cannino)

 
              To begin with in This I Believe a woman was raped, and an innocent man was sent to jail although they were both victims they still lived with either remorse or hatred for a while. The woman identified the wrong man as her rapist but at that moment she did not know that it was the wrong person, this caused the man to go to jail for eleven years. Within time she found out that she chose the wrong person and felt so guilty for what she had done, meanwhile the innocent man had plenty of time to think in his cell although he was very angry while being in jail he forgave her. He states that he understood her the fact that she was suffering, but that she was not the only one suffering he suffered as well as in missing his freedom but not only that his family too. The man decided to forgive her because he wanted peace in his heart he did not want to keep living the way he was, the woman was healing and learned from the man how to let go of the pain she felt. They became friends and also a new person in the way they healed their self. 

Secret to college success

   
            I hope to be successful in my journey, but within that I can't just hope and expect for things to be easy I know it can get challenging, but how will I learn something new if I don't challenge myself. I think that I will mostly need to follow Exploring Strategies. I believe this because this strategy could help me think of my ideas for instance, Free Writing with Free Writing I can write what comes to my mind and not necessarily stress in that moment I can come up with different ideas, and after I've done that I can go back and read and notice where I touched a different topic that has nothing to do with my writing. In conclusion I hope that with that secret I can be successful in college.

What i want to learn

     
                I am aiming to have a good grade in this class, I know at some points it can be very hard but if I keep going then I believe I can do it. Anyone can actually do it you just have to actually want it bad. Like I want to improve as much as I can in this class I love to write although sometimes I get distracted but that is one thing I  want to really learn is being able to focus and concentrate on my work without any distractions. Hopefully I learn the requirements that I need for this class in order to get into my next English Class.

                   To begin with my name is Selenie I am nineteen years old ,I graduated in May 2019 from George Washington Carver High school. I did not take time off of college i started right away for some reason I felt that, that would benefit me in some way. I am a very sweet person I like to help people in ways I can even if sometimes I am struggling. I think to myself that somehow we will get to where we need to be if we just keep going. I like to just lay back and chill, I really do not like to sit around and listen to people or drama if it is not beneficial to me. I believe if you mind your business then you can get very far in your life in live so happy.
